Second Interview
Conversation Guide for the Second Interview:
As with our first interview, this second one will take place on line using the video call app that works best for you. As previously it is best if you are in a place that is safe and comofortable, where you will be free to share whatever you want to share, and where you have good reception or wireless access depending on the form of video call you choose.
Once again our conversation will be recorded by transcribing software so that I don’t need to take notes while we chat, freeing me to fully engage in our conversation. Once transcribed, the recordings will be deleted and the transcription kept under password protection where only I can access it for the research.
Here’s what to expect during the conversation itself:
(Not everything needs to be covered, there may be areas you’d prefer not to cover and others that you’d like to spend more time on, that’s fine, it’s all up to you.)
Settling in: 5 minutes
Run through outline of interview.
Confirm can stop any time for a breather.
Confirm can stop any time altogether.
Main Conversation: 60 minutes
Since last time:
What has life been like since our first interview?
How did you find the workshop?
Journal:
Would you be able to take me through your journal – sharing those things you are happy to share?
Further reflections on the last few weeks:
Questions you are living with regarding your journey with God through trauma.
Experiences or insights that have stood out to you.
Helpful / unhelpful aspects, troubling / settling aspects of the journey with the research.
Final Questions:
Regarding your journey with God and trauma, how would you describe the difference between you before participating in this research and you now?
Referring to the final question from the first interview: “If a fellow survivor asked you to help them understand the Christian faith / what it means to be a follower of Jesus, based on your experience what would be the most important things you would want them to know?” How would you answer that now? would you add anything (if you can remember what you said?!!)?
Any final comments?
Wrapping up: 5 minutes
Re-set practice – interviewee chooses (eg: 2 minutes silence, 2 minutes breath work, 2 minutes tension releasing etc)
Blessing.
Close.
